Introducing Gabi and Shanna! We had the pleasure of working with this travel blogging couple this past June for a Pride Month Campaign. Their blog 27travels.com and Instagram page, @27Travels, showcases their passion for travel with their tips and gorgeous photos of their adventures, all while showcasing their Pride and being active advocates for the LGBTQ community by sharing their own story! Gabi and Shanna are always positive, upbeat, and authentic. They create colorful, quality content and are great brand advocates while staying true to themselves. How did you find the inspiration to start your page and take the leap as a content creator?
Our page was honestly started as just a fun place for Shanna & I to put all of our travel memories. When we met we right away bonded over our love for travel and knew that we wanted to travel the world together. Shanna is a videographer and I (Gabi) am a photographer so once we started traveling together we had so many fun videos and images that we just wanted to share somewhere so that we could look back on our travels, and that is how we started our Instagram! We quickly realized that there weren’t that many people like us at the time -- traveling and giving tips as a lesbian couple -- and it became really important to us to be visible and share our experiences as a lesbian couple traveling together!
What is your overall inspiration for your posts and Instagram feed?
Our overall inspiration for our posts and Instagram feed is just to inspire people to travel, have fun, and to just be themselves and be proud of who they are! We feel that we are fun, kind, and colorful people and always hope that comes off in any images or videos that we share!
How did you get your first brand sponsorship, and who was it with?
Our first brand sponsorship was with Visit Gay USA! They contacted us on Instagram about collaborating together and they were so awesome to work with! Travel is so important to us and we were beyond thrilled about the collaboration, they are such an amazing brand!
What are the biggest lessons you’ve learned working for yourselves and creating your own personal brand?
The biggest lessons that we have learned working for ourselves and creating our own personal brand is just to at the end of the day always be true to ourselves! We stand up for what we believe in always and stay true to ourselves! If something doesn’t feel right we don’t do it, we work with brands that we like and believe in and we always have our own voice and style!
What are both of yours favorite parts of being a content creator?
Our favorite part of being content creators is being able to get inspired and create things that matter to us! We also love that we have a platform where we are always able to meet new amazing people that inspire us daily and many who have become close friends with us in real life!
Who is your biggest inspiration in the industry and why?
This is such a hard question for us! I don’t think that we can say one person as every single person and content creator we follow on Instagram inspires us daily in different ways! That’s one of the many reasons we love the community that we are in on social media!
What do you wish people knew about influencers?
We wish people knew that influencers work really hard! I think there is this stigma that being an influencer is both not important and also easy and that’s something that we completely disagree with! We think that influencers and content creators work really hard, have something to share that is incredibly important to them, and are also some of the most creative and inspiring people out there!
Where do you see yourself, as well as the industry, within the next few years?
Honestly, we have no clue where we will be in 5 years, or where this industry will be! We just like to take life day by day and live life to the fullest that we can but we are sure that this industry will just continue to grow and do incredible things.
What is the best piece of advice you have for people who want to build their own social media brand and get started in the industry?
Our best advice is just to do it! There’s no harm in trying, its all about having your own voice and talking about what your passionate about and what matters to you! Be real and have fun with it, most likely you will make some amazing friends along the way!
